Scholarship
NNF provides scholarships to current and admitted graduate students at the Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government. The scholarship was established in the memory of the late Ngozi Peter Nwaneri, a 2018 Master in Public Administration candidate of HKS who passed away unexpectedly 3 months before his graduation at the age of 30, to support students of African descent.

“When I learned of Ngozi Peter’s background,
mainly his love for finance, his desire to implement projects designed to stimulate economic growth in Nigeria and on the continent broadly, I knew that I was in the right company. This scholarship truly commemorates Ngozi Peter’s passion and propels students with similar desires to execute on these lofty goals. I see no better way to uphold his legacy.”

“As a recipient to The Ngozi Peter Nwaneri
scholarship, I am extremely grateful for the funding this has afforded my family and I while attending HKS. This scholarship has provided me an opportunity to put all of my focus on the academic experience Harvard has to offer, and not worry about the financial aspect.
Additionally, as an avid fan of and investor in Africa’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, the mission of this scholarship program aligns closely with my career and life goals – and I hope to leave a lasting impact on the continent.

Although Peter left us early, he got his paragraph right in the mystery book of life. Peter’s sudden death and the positive impact on people he met remind you of the proverbial good TEACHER who is like a candle that consumes itself to LIGHT the way for others.
Charles Okorie
An amazing person gone to soon. I literally can hear him singing Marvin Gaye in my head. We laughed at the Phi Chi pledge process but grateful to have gone through all of that foolishness with you.

I taught thousands of students at University of Maryland-College Park and Ngozi left a lasting impression. Ngozi was always enthusiastic, engaged, and motivated. Every encounter I had with Ngozi was filled with enjoyment and laughter. Multiple times I served as a reference for him and was thrilled when he graduated from Wharton. Ngozi had a wonderful personality and a sincere love for others.

Peter was a very driven individual with big dreams. He had a great personality and most importantly, a big heart.

What a wonderful and vibrant and intelligent man, who has left us far too early. He truly was a bright and beaming light.

Ngozi, I remember the first time meeting you when our track teams competed against each other in high school and we both jumped up when one of the coaches yelled for “Ngozi!”. From there, our debates about who pronounces our name the right way began and you never ceased to let me know that you were the “Real Ngozi” lol, and that you’ll just call me “Namesake” going forward. Ngozi, people like you remind us all that it’s not just about striving for greatness, but about being great to others along the way.

Thank you Ngozi, for being such a big-hearted and brave friend. You were the warm face that welcomed many of us into Wharton, and Wharton Africa – and defined our experience at the school. You also led the effort in creating Wharton’s Africa Impact investment focus. You showed up, all the time, for others. Rest well.
Rajith Sebastian
Ngozi was one of the most kind-hearted, creative, joyous friends I’ve ever had. He had my back unconditionally, even through his last days. Ngozi left a lasting impression on my life and I’m going to miss him so much. I love you Ngozi, may your soul rest in perfect peace.

This is devastating…My man Gozi was one of the most wittiest coolest souls ive ever met but most important he had endless loving and caring energy. God thank you for lending us one of your children and touch his family as you’ve called him back home. Rest easy brother.

Condolences to and sympathies for the Nwaneri family. I hope there is some solace in knowing the far-reaching and undeniable impact Ngozi had on everyone he met. He and I shared much of our time at Wharton together and I’m deeply thankful for that. He inspired love, creative genius, and an infectiously positive attitude throughout each community he touched. He personally shaped my perspective (for the better) on several occasions, and we are all truly fortunate to have spent time with him. Rest in peace, Goz.

The HKS Africa Caucus sends our deepest condolences, prayers and strength to you and the family. Ngozi was a beloved brother and a friend. We could always rely on him to turn up with DJing for all our events, to snap the photos that captured our memories created..he poured so much passion and commitment into everything he did. He was such an integral part of the Africa community at HKS. Our community grieves, yet celebrates the example of his life and the gift he was to us.
Dinah Hanson & HKS Africa Caucus

Ngozi brought great music and laughter to the Africa community at HKS

Goz was my roommate until February 1st, 2018 when I moved apartments. When I told anyone at HKS that I lived with him their eyes would light up and you could tell how big of a mark he had made on his community. He cared deeply about positively impacting the world and continuing the tradition of public service embodied by his family. I often heard him speaking on the phone with up-and-coming entrepreneurs as a mentor and role model. It was clear that people gravitated towards him.
